On: Iraq

December 8, 2009

Pretty happy with what I turned in for my Middle East class, considering that I did it all in a day.

Prompt: How has oil affected the political developments in the Middle East? How has economics and oil affected the relationships between countries of the region with the West? Briefly describe the U.S. relationship with at least one oil producing country in the region.

“Two Words”

December 4, 2009

The following post inspired by Taeyang. Real random, maybe not coherent at all. Check for another edition of “my thoughts”, this weekend.

All my friends have gone crazy over this dude. And so, I finally took the time to watch one of his videos. “Wedding Dress.” I was reminded of a phenomenon that I’ve noticed.

Have you ever noticed that the worst words in the English language come in pairs?
“Technical difficulties.”
“I’m pregnant.”
“I do.”
“Fuck you.”
“Shut up.”
“Break up.”
“Good bye.”
“Not anymore.”

Obviously there are way more examples than what I’ve listed.
“Too late.” – this is the one that I thought of when I watched the video. Too late. I feel like those are the words I’ve had hanging around my life lately. Too late. I’m tired of being “too late”. I know something – no, everything – is going to change next year. The first year I’m really going to try to fix everything in my life. I suppose that’s the part of this post he’s inspired.

As far as his actual work goes, I’m not a fan of music in any other language besides English. Emotion alone can translate feeling across barriers, but the key in music for me is the words…which I couldn’t really understand.

For a good seven months now, when you open my phone, there’s a picture of my away jersey, and “Two Words”, written at the top. For me, I guess they take on a little more significance than just “the worst words in the English language.”

I keep “Two Words” because they remind me of…so almost everything important in my life. “Infinite Possibility”. “Four Loves. [hip-hop, cinema, literature, cuisine]“. “No regrets.” “Super Nam.” Two words…two simple words. Hahaha.

Why the fuck does Lil Wayne have a “Communist” shirt in that new Jay Sean video? He does realize that with Communism, he wouldn’t BE rich, right?

The State of Life (MEGA EDITION) – October 2nd, 2009

October 2, 2009

Woah. So. It’s been quite a while since I’ve had one of these.

Let’s try to recall all the crazy things that have happened.
I was offered the scouting/announcing jobs for Galileo football with my boy Nick (and, together there ain’t a duo half as sick as this).
I am now teaching a weekly class on Personal Statements at Galileo High School.
I plan to apply for the newspaper at UC Berkeley next semester.
Fuck, CALSO is pretty soon, too.

On Israel and Palestine

August 26, 2009

Now, I don’t pretend to be an expert in this conflict. In fact, I took “Government and Politics of the Middle East” to become more well informed about the world, in particular this hotbed of conflict and instability…We just recently watched a video on the situation between Israel and Palestine, which was my first real experience hearing about this. Just wanted to sound off on it.

The rest of this is based on what I understand.

The State of Life – July 29th, 2009

July 29, 2009

Today’s State of Life column will cover alot of topics, as you can see by the post tags. Hope you enjoy! LOL.

Monday, I visited UC Berkeley with a very large group of people (Best Friend Samantha, Jenny, Betty, Mary, Jack, Eric, and Ryan)! I’ve actually been trying to organize this trip for quite some time, but summer schedules did not allow it. A smaller group of us went to Berkeley early in the summer, but we went back again to tour. On our way up to Berkeley, I SWEAR I SAW CHRIS WEBBER PASS US ON THE BART. But I said it really loud and none of the guys saw him, but everyone around us looked at me. Oh well, nothing I’m not used to.
